Match Preview

Raith Rovers head to North Lanarkshire this Saturday, as they look to bounce back from last week’s defeat 2-0 defeat to St Johnstone.

The Diamonds sit bottom of the Championship table with two draws and three defeats from their first five fixtures, but do have a new man in the dugout, with former Rovers legend Danny Lennon taking the reins following the departure of Rhys McCabe.

His first game was last Friday evening against Partick Thistle at Firhill, and while they went down to a 2-1 defeat, they led 1-0 going into the final quarter of the game and were arguably unlucky to lose in a game where they kept Thistle at arms length for much of the match.

Despite Rovers loss last time out, they still sit second going into this one, although Dunfermline could move above them with a win over St Johnstone in the Friday night fixture.

Goals have been at something of a premium in this fixture in recent times, with just one game in the last 14 seeing either side scoring more than once, which was a 3-1 win for Airdrie back in April last year.

Incredibly, 10 of those 14 games have ended up finishing 1-0, with Rovers only defeating Airdrie once in their nine meetings since Airdrie returned to the second tier in 2023.

Rovers last win at Saturday’s venue came back in February 2020, when an early Ross Matthews goal was enough to seal all three points for Rovers.

Saturday’s match referee will be Ryan Lee.

Head-To-Head Record:

Airdrie wins: 16

Raith Rovers wins: 20

Draws: 13
