Match Preview
Raith Rovers will be looking to get back to winning ways this weekend, as they head to North Lanarkshire to take on Airdrieonians in their first fixture of the new year..
The Diamonds are currently ninth in the Championship table, five points clear of Ross County and only behind Queen’s Park on goal difference, albeit having played a game more than both those sides.
Despite their position however, Airdrie are in a decent vein of form, losing just one of their last six games in all competitions, with interim boss Aaron Taylor Sinclair staking a claim to get the job on a permanent basis.
His side were bottom with just four points from a possible 33 when he took over in October following the departure of Danny Lennon, but their results since has seen them leapfrog Ross County and close the gap on the teams above them.
The Albert Bartlett Stadium has been something of a poor hunting ground for Rovers in recent seasons, with their last win at the venue coming back in February 2020, when an early goal from Ross Matthews was enough to seal all three points.
At the time, that win made it 17 games without defeat against Airdrie, but it’s been a complete turnround in form since, with just one win from the last 11 match ups.
This will be the teams third meeting of the current campaign, with the first match in Airdrie finishing 0-0 in September, while the Diamonds were surprise 3-0 winners at Stark’s Park in November.
Saturday’s match referee will be Peter Stuart.
Head-to-Head Record:
Airdrie wins: 17
Raith Rovers wins: 20
Draws: 14
