Match Preview:

Raith Rovers head to the Energy Assets Arena this Saturday, for the final match of the Championship season, knowing that a victory over Livingston, will see them finish the season in sixth place.

The fixture is a repeat of the final day of last season, when a last-minute Brian Graham goal saw Raith win out 3-2 winners, a result which was their first win over Livingston in 12 years. While Rovers won the first meeting between the sides this season, their poor record against Livi returned in their next 2 encounters.

A Gordon Smith goal was enough to seal a 1-0 win at Stark’s Park at the end of October, but Livingston claimed all 3 points in the final game of 2013, when goals from Martin Scott, Stefan Scougall and an own-goal from Jason Thomson, saw Livingston run out 3-0 winners. Their most recent meeting was in March, when a topsy-turvy encounter was eventually won 4-2 by Livingston, after doubles from Craig Sives, and Marc McNulty. Rovers goals on the day were scored by John Baird, and Jason Thomson.

Raith’s recent record against Livingston is one of the poorest out of all the Championship sides, with just 2 wins and a draw from the last 10 matches against the Lions. Raith’s biggest win in this fixture came 14 years ago, with a 4-0 away win in September 2000. Livingston’s biggest winning margin was also a 4-0 victory, which they achieved in February 2012.

Saturday’s match referee will be David Somers.
