Match Preview:

Raith Rovers travel to Dens Park this Tuesday, to face Dundee for the fifth and final time this season, as they look to build on Saturday’s 2-1 win over Morton.

Strangely, despite recording a win over Dundee at the same venue back in November, no Raith player has scored in this fixture this season. Rovers Scottish Cup victory in November came thanks to a Gary Irvine own-goal, while the Championship game at Dens Park ended as a 2-0 win for Dundee. The encounters at Stark’s Park also ended with Raith failing to score, firstly, in a 0-0 draw back in August, while Dundee ran out 2-0 winners when they first-footed Stark’s Park at the beginning of January.

Tuesday’s fixture will be the first time Rovers have faced Dundee since they appointed Paul Hartley as their new manager, and he’s started off well in his new position, picking up four wins out of five, since being appointed at the start of February. That run also includes four clean-sheets, with only Cowdenbeath managing to score against Hartley’s new charges.

A win for Raith on Tuesday evening would see them replace Livingston as the sixth-placed team in the league, and move to within a point of Dumbarton. A win for Dundee, would see them move three points cleat at the top of the Championship.

Raith’s last league win at Dens Park was almost 20 years ago, in a 2-0 win in a First Division fixture in April 1995, while their biggest even win at this venue was a 4-0 win back in December 1922. The Kirkcaldy side have a poor recent record in this fixture however, winning just one of the last ten league meetings, compared to Dundee’s seven.

Tuesday evening’s referee will be Stephen Finnie.
