Versatile defender Euan Murray was back at Stark’s Park today to meet with manager Barry Smith.

Having started 44 games last season (plus 1 sub appearance) scoring 4 goals, Euan is a key member of the Rovers squad and was offered a contract late last week for the next 2 seasons.

The 24 year old, who picked up the Manager’s Player of the Year award, was keen to get his future secured early in the close season with a family holiday planned before pre-season training starts in mid-June.

In addition to the versatile Murray, experienced defender Iain Davidson (34) has also signed a contract with the Rovers for next season.

Having first played for Rovers in 2004 ‘Davo’ passed the 400 game mark with the Rovers last season. He played 36 games in central defence in 2017-18 (scoring one goal in the derby win v East Fife), which was widely regarded as his most consistent season ever in a Rovers jersey. Bringing much-needed experience and stability to a defence that had to cope with long-term injuries to key players was a notable asset of Iain’s.

Deservedly voted as Supporters’ Player of the Year last season, Iain is looking forward to the new season, and the challenge that comes with getting his hometown team back into the SPFL Championship.

Both players talked to RaithTV earlier:
