Greenock Morton v Raith Rovers

Saturday October 3rd 2026

3:00 pm kick-off

Cappielow Park

William Hill Championship

The first quarter of the season draws to a close this weekend, as Raith Rovers travel to Greenock to face a Morton side looking for their first league win of the season.

Ian Murray’s team currently prop up the table with one draw from their first eight games of the season, three points behind Queen’s Park and seven behind Ayr United who sit just above the relegation spots.

Both these sides go into the game on the back of 2-0 defeats. An injury depleted Rovers side lost out to Livingston last Friday after a second half brace from Robbie Muirhead, while Morton went down by the same scoreline in Inverness, with goals from Paul Allan and Alfie Bavidge meaning the Caley Jags have now taken seven points from nine since losing to Raith Rovers at the start of September.

Rovers have had the better of the most recent matches between the two, enjoying a run of six games unbeaten, with Morton’s last win back in November 2024.

The last meeting between the two was certainly eventful, with Rovers coming out on top in a five goal thriller at Stark’s Park.

Cammy Blues had handed the visitors the lead as half time approached, although quickfire goals from Paul Nsio and Innes Cameron had Rovers in front midway through the second, only for Nathan Shaw to bring the scores level with quarter of an hour remaining. However, a late goal from Jordan Doherty ensured the three points stayed in Kirkcaldy.

Admittedly there was a little less action between the two teams at Cappielow last season, with a 0-0 draw in February while Raith won 1-0 in September thanks to a goal from Dylan Easton.

Saturday’s match referee will be Sean Murdoch.
