The club have today secured the services of midfielder Ethan Ross on loan from Aberdeen.

The 19 year old has been with the Pittodrie side since the age of 10, and his loan deal will run at Stark’s Park until the end of the 2020-21 season.

A wide midfielder, Ethan has already experienced football in the SPFL Championship with a loan spell at East End Park last season where he played 7 games for the Pars.

Ethan has received top-class coaching through all the age groups in his time at Pittodrie, and was skipper of the Dons under 19 side.

Rovers manager John McGlynn spoke to about his latest acquisition, saying: “I’d like to thank the Board of Raith Rovers for allowing us to bring Ethan in. In these uncertain times it is admirable that they have endorsed our pursuit of Ethan.

Wide midfield was a position that we were always looking to fill, but having filled other positions we were still short of players with invaluable experience of the SPFL Championship.

Ethan knows what to expect in the league this season to benefit the team. He is an attacking wide player, who plays with the flair and style that we want from our squad.

Lastly, we thank Aberdeen FC for their co-operation – this move will benefit all parties, as we expect Ethan to return to Pittodrie an improved player at the end of this season.”

Ethan made his first team debut for the Reds in January 2019 in a Scottish Cup tie v Stenhousemuir, and his SPFL Premiership debut in March of last year at Celtic Park from the bench. In total he has featured in 9 matches for Aberdeen.

Ethan has also been capped 10 times at U17 and U18 level for Scotland in 2017 and 2018, scoring 2 goals.

Welcome to the Rovers Ethan!
