After a comfortable 2-0 win over Ayr United at the weekend, Raith Rovers head into the first Fife derby of the season knowing a positive result would send them clear at the top of the Championship.
Saturday’s win moved Dougie Imrie’s men onto seven points from their first three games, tied with Stenhousemuir and Partick Thistle, although the Warriors are top of the fledgling league table thanks to a slightly superior goal difference.
In contrast, Dunfermline Athletic have yet to win a league match, with Saturday’s loss to Livingston leaving them eighth in the table with two draws from three matches.
However, they could arguably consider themselves unfortunate not to have more, with only a Harry Stone wonder save preventing them from taking all three points against Ayr United in their second league match of the campaign.
If Rovers are to take all three points from this one, they’ll need to reverse a trend of three successive defeats against Neil Lennon’s side, while they haven’t won at East End Park in five attempts.
The last match at the venue in March saw Dunfermline emerge victorious with a straightforward 3-0 win, while Raith’s last league win at the home of their rivals came in a 2-1 victory on the 2nd of January 2024, when two goals from Daniel O’Reilly saw Rovers produce the perfect start to the year.
If Dunfermline were to win this one, it would be the first time they’ve won four successive games against Raith since they won the last derby of the 2010/11 season and the first three of the 2012/13 campaign.
The recent results in this fixture do suggest there’ll be a winner on the evening, with the last league draw a scoreless encounter back in January 2022, 14 games ago.
Friday evening’s match referee will be Duncan Nicolson.

Tickets are online only. There will be no cash desk on the day, so all away supporters must purchase a ticket before heading to the ground.
We’ll be housed in the Vertu Community Stand, access via turnstiles 10 – 15.
