Livingston u20’s (B McGhee 73) 1 – 3 Raith Rovers u20’s (Crosbie 40,  Stevenson 53, 63)

Rovers set up a league decider next week against Alloa as they take Livingston out of the title equation with a win at Almondvale.

The first half entertained the 30 or so spectators with nice passing moves from both teams but with few chances.
Henderson tested Brian early with a dipping shot from 25 yards which was easily gathered, Stevenson with a free kick from 30 yards which was saved low by Pettigrew, this being what proved to be a range finder for later.
Kinchant and Wilson came close, the former shooting straight to Brian, the latter with an effort that spun wide of goal.

Despite the home side’s attentions Rovers pressed and won a free kick, Stevenson crossed the ball into the box where MacDonald saw Pettigrew hold his header from under the bar, his kick out didn’t go well as the ball fell to McCann, he laid off to the left, straight to Lewis Crosbie who lashed the ball past the diving keeper from the edge of the box 0 – 1.

Livingston came out from the interval with purpose, holding Rovers in their own half for five minutes only coming close from a Kinchant corner which Pignatello snatched at the ball being cleared by MacDonald.

Rovers eased the pressure and won a free kick 18 yards out on the left, Stevenson found McCann at the back post, his header falling to Dall who had the ball in the net only to be flagged offside.

The disappointment was put aside a minute later when Ryan Stevenson lined up another free kick 30 yards out central to goal, he fired the ball low through the wall and into the bottom left hand corner to make it 0 – 2.

On 63 minutes, a Rovers drive saw Trialist A play a great diagonal ball into the path of Ryan Stevenson who thundered the ball past Pettigrew from the left corner of the 6-yard box 0 – 3.

With the game virtually tied up and a flurry of substitutions Ben McGhee grabbed a consolation goal which came from a corner, the ball coming off what looked like his back and into the net past a bemused Rory Brian 1 – 3.
