It’s bad news on the injury front after doctors confirmed that goalkeeper David McGurn has torn his Achilles tendon. The incident came in the closing stages of Rovers’ 2-1 victory against Morton at Stark’s Park on Saturday.

Medics at Glasgow’s Southern General hospital will operate tomorrow and we will then learn the extent of the injury and how long Davie will be expected to be out of action. However he is likely to be sidelined for a lengthy period.

It goes without saying that everyone at the club is gutted for Davie, who has been in terrific form this season, and we wish him a speedy recovery.

The club is fortunate indeed to be able to call on Ross Laidlaw to pick up the keeper’s gloves and manager Grant Murray has full confidence that young Ross will step up to the mark, starting with Tuesday evening’s re-arranged Championship fixture at home to John McGlynn’s Livingston.
