Since January, Raith Rovers FC has been consistently supportive of the efforts from all sides to achieve consensual league restructuring through a 42 club solution. Naturally, therefore, we have been very disappointed that it has only taken two clubs to effectively veto a package that, timing issues apart, seemed to be the collective will of all of the other full members of both leagues. That can’t be right and it certainly isn’t democratic in the normal sense of the word.

Accordingly, this club is very much encouraged by the Scottish FA’s offer to become directly involved in the negotiation and consultation process. We are also appreciative of the ongoing efforts of the boards of both league bodies to continue to leave no stone unturned in their efforts to find solution through compromise.

Let there be no doubt, delivery of change to the professional game in this country cannot wait. It is needed now, in order to avoid further decline and financial casualties, and Raith Rovers FC remains ready and willing to actively participate in the change process.
