What better way to prepare for the home derby against the pars than to wallow in nostalgia and pay tribute to Rovers greats from the 1960s the night before on Friday 15 March?

The Former Players’ Association and Rovers Down South are bringing together 15 players (and counting) for a tribute night and fundraising event for the U15/16s……..and the club generally.

Players confirmed so far are Frank Burrows, Bobby Stein, Alan Miller, Jocky Richardson, Gordon Wallace, Pat Gardner, Ian Lourie, Tommy Hislop, Davie Weir, Davie Miller, Brian Cooper, Paddy Wilson, Mike Judge, Colin Sinclair.

Maybe not household names to the majority of Rovers supporters today but they include:

  • Frank Burrows, who first played for the Rovers back in 1961
  • 4 members of the team that beat QoS 7-2 to win promotion in 1967
  • The one and only Jocky, Jocky, Jocky………Richardson
  • 1967/68 Scottish Player of the Year, Gordon Wallace – the first non old-firm player to win the award

The event will be held in The Abbey Hotel On Friday 15th March with a 7.00pm kick off. Tickets are £25 and available from the office at Stark’s Park or from roversdownsouth@hotmail.co.uk
