Kyle Bow

Monday September 12th 2022

Raith Rovers can confirm that young goalkeeper Kyle Bow has decided to step down from his career as a young professional with immediate effect due to persistent injury problems with his left knee that has left him unable to train.

Kyle (18) started off in football in his native Dunfermline at Duloch Juniors and Elgin Star, before going on to train and play with the youth teams of Hearts and Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts. He then signed for FEFA (Fife Elite Football Academy).

He was signed as a Modern Apprentice by the Rovers halfway through season 2019-20, having impressed former management duo John McGlynn and Paul Smith in pre-season training and playing a full part in training with the first team since the start of that season.

He was on the bench for the first time in a competitive match at Airdrie on 1st February 2020.

Kyle made his debut for the Rovers in the preseason friendly win over Berwick in September 2020, replacing one of his goalkeeping mentors Jamie MacDonald for the last 20 minutes of that match.

In November 2020 Kyle returned to Hillfield Swifts on loan until January 2021, in order to get match experience.

In August 2021 Kyle signed a full professional contract with the club, extending his time at the Rovers through to the end of the current season.

Speaking to www.raithrovers net, Kyle said:

“I would like to thank everyone at the club for the help and support they have given me in my 3 years here.

The staff, volunteers, supporters, players and management were great with me, and leaving due to injury is disappointing and frustrating.

I wish everyone at the club the best of luck for the future”.

Everyone at the club wishes Kyle all the best for the future.
