Since 2012, Rovers supporters group The Neeburs o’ Geordie Munro have presented the most improved young player with a new pair of boots, valued up to £150.

The presentation is made in memory of Neeburs who have passed away over the years.

The award is timed to fit in to the start of the season allowing the boots to kick into action for the Rovers, without delay.
The presentation this year was made more poignant with the recent passing of Richard Kopocinski, a founding member of the Neeburs, and a life-long Rovers’ fan (from his early teenage years).

Richard had made the away trip to Dunbar and enjoyed Rovers’ 7-1 win against Dunbar United, only to die suddenly (but peacefully) 2 days later.

Richard had already bought his season ticket which the Rovers kindly agreed (along with a top up payment from the Neeburs) to convert into 10 Junior season tickets which are being donated to local charities (including The Cottage and The Nourish Support Centre).

Aaron Arnott won the Neeburs’ vote following his impressive development over the 21-22 season, and received a cheque for £150 for his new pair of boots from Martin Christie, the “Chef de Neeburs” as his Schanzer friends call him.
