The incredible skills of Jim Baxter will be seen on the big screen as part of Raith Rovers’ Hall of Fame night.

To celebrate Slim Jim’s induction, Sir Alex Ferguson has recorded an exclusive video message to be screened on the night.

The video footage has been secured by Gordon Brown MP and will feature in the live show at the Adam Smith Theatre on Monday, November 12.

It’s the latest addition to the night which will include VIP guests Gordon Strachan and Val McDermid in conversation with Bill Leckie, a parade of Raith legends, and the induction of no fewer than eight players from through the decades… and some surprises!

Mr Brown, the Jim Baxter ambassador, has been working with the event organisers – Ally Gourlay (Raith Rovers PFA), Alistair Cameron (ACA Sports), Willie MacGregor (MacGregor Solicitors) and Allan Crow (editor, Fife Free Press) – since it was first unveiled as a major fundraiser in aid of Raith Rovers.

They are now urging fans to get their tickets – and not leave it until the last minute. Willie said ‘‘there’s a lot of interest in the event and with more still to announce we’re aiming for a full house. It’s a unique event. Many Hall of Fame events are based around a fundraising dinner, but we have gone for something very different – a live show in the town’s main theatre. It hasn’t been done on this scale before or in this format, but the theatre is the perfect stage to launch what we want to see as the start of a great new initiative for the club.’’

As well as the main show, there is an exclusive meet and greet with Gordon Strachan which is open to individual fans and businesses.

It will take place during the day when the former Scotland international and Celtic manager will join a very limited group, and their guests, for a private meal.

The cost is £1000 which includes four tickets to the live Hall of Fame show, plus a chance to dine with, and meet, Gordon Strachan.

Alistair Cameron said: ‘‘It’s a great gesture by Gordon to agree to this in addition to appearing on stage – it’s a unique opportunity for football fans to spend time with one of the game’s great stars.”

Seats for the private dinner can be booked via Alistair on 07969 251 765. Tickets for the Hall of Fame show can be bought direct from the box office at the Adam Smith Theare, priced £20, or online via www.onfife.com
