Police Scotland recently advised Raith Rovers FC that – with immediate effect – they are no longer deploying Police Officers to secure Pratt Street before and after Rovers matches.
The practice of closing the road past Stark’s Park was introduced many years ago to provide adequate protection to all supporters entering and exiting the ground, especially the more vulnerable.

In the absence of Police Officers yesterday, RRFC Stewards and barriers were deployed after our match v Stirling and we were delighted to encounter a high level of compliance and understanding from motorists.

Unfortunately, 2 drivers (driving a works van and a Mini car) ignored these safety measures and put supporters and stewards at risk.

Abusive language was used by the occupants of both vehicles towards stewards.
It is believed that one of the motorists was parked in Mill Street, and while driving through the cordon caused their vehicle to collide with a RRFC Steward, resulting in injury.

A representative from the Football Club has requested a meeting with Police Scotland to discuss their decision and to pass on information relative to both drivers and their vehicles.

If any information can be given about these 2 incidents, please contact the Club on 01592 263 514 and leave a message for our Safety Officer.

It is essential that we take whatever steps are necessary to protect people from harm when they attend our stadium and we ask for your continued support in doing so.

Please comply with road closures and help to protect yourself and others.
