Raith Rovers 6 – 0 Peterhead

The new era under recently appointed manager Ian Murray got off to a great start with a blistering 6-0 victory over Peterhead in the Premier Sports Cup.

Rovers slotted goal after goal past the Blue Toon in relentless fashion.

Dylan Easton opened the scoring for Raith on the 16th minute when he latched onto the end of a Kieran Mitchell cross from the right to send a spectacular overhead kick past Wood in the Peterhead goal.

Easton increased his tally in the 32nd minute, picking up the ball 30 yards out, he made a great solo run into the box and slotted a right foot shot low into the net.

After the break the ex Airdrie man continued where he left off picking up an Aidan Connolly short corner on the right, he skipped past a defender and claimed his hatrick with a low shot from the edge of the box.

Liam Dick made it four in the 61st minute, rising to head an Ethan Ross cross from the left past Wood.

Jamie Gullan made it 5 in 64 minutes after Aidan Connolly made his way into the box and laid the ball back to ‘The Hammer’ to fire home from 6 yards out and Aidan Connolly turned from provider to goalscorer when he completed the scoring in the last minute with a direct free kick from 30 yards out which flew past Wood and into the postage stamp corner to complete a miserable night for Jim McInally’s side but sending the Rovers fans home happy and hopeful that what they had just witnessed was a sign of things to come.
