Dylan: “Team gain before personal mission”

Rovers latest recruit Dylan Easton hopes that he can cap off a meteoric rise through the lower leagues by helping his new side to get themselves back in the Play-Off mix come the end of the season.

The 28-year-old admits that a couple of years spent soul searching in the lower leagues has helped him reignite his hunger to play at the highest level possible.

Easton is adamant that the decision made to drop down to the Lowland League with Kelty Hearts has paid dividends, and he hasn’t looked back since as he got Barry Ferguson’s side into the Professional Leagues for the first time, before joining Ian Murray at Airdrie last season – where he proved his mettle back in the professional game with great effect.

Easton exclusively told RaithRovers.net:

“I’m delighted to get it done.

“It’s been a hectic few days and a mental few weeks since the Play-Off Final if I’m being honest.

“The close season always gets interesting when you’re out of contract but I can’t wait to get started here at Raith Rovers.

“It’s been a very good year for me personally, picking up PFA Player Of The Year as well as Airdrie’s PoTY.

“It was something special, it’s been a great year for me and it was nice to get the media recognition as well but if I can bring my performances from last season into my time here at the Rovers.

“It’s been quite the journey for myself over the last couple of years, dropping out of the leagues all together to go and play with Kelty and help them get into League Two before joining Airdrieonians last season, it would be great to taste promotion once more here and get into the Premiership.

“It was always my ambition to come and play full-time football again, it was frustrating that I got a few injuries earlier on in my career so i had to get myself right and fit again.

“Once I got to Kelty and finally got myself fully fit, I sat down with my partner, who I’ve got to give a special mention too as she plays a big factor in everything that I do, we discussed things through.

“Even she said that it was time for me to show what I could do at the top level and for me there’s no better place for me to do that than at Raith Rovers so hopefully personally I can push on even more as well as help push the club on and we can be fighting for those promotion places for the Premiership come the end of the season.
