IFRA – Fire Engine Naming at Stark’s Park

Monday October 18th 2021

Bert Stewart

Earlier this year former Firefighter and Raith Rovers supporter Bert Stewart died as a result of a tragic accident.

For many years Bert was involved with IFRA (the International Fire & Rescue Association).

This charity was founded in 2001 to specifically target the Fire and Rescue needs of communities on an international level. It does so by supplying vehicles, equipment and training through a dedicated group of trained volunteers who give up their spare time to travel round the globe to help others.

Two appliances were handed over at Stark’s Park this week, ready to be delivered to Argentina. They are named Bert Stewart and Raith Rovers and will provide a lasting memory to both Bert and the football team he loved – the Rovers.

Andy Mill, Raith Rovers Supporters Director and former Firefighter, conducted the ceremony at Stark’s Park in front of a large crowd that included Bert’s Fire Service colleagues, several generations of his family, Raith Rovers staff and players.

George Williamson Wilson becomes the fifth Rovers manager in history.
