On Friday 20th August 2021 after a short illness, surrounded by his family, Thomas “Tam” Herd passed away.

Tam was a fan of Raith Rovers for over eighty years, he started following the Rovers just before the start of WW2 and was taken to the game by his father. He continued to follow the Rovers through thick and thin, many a year he told his wife at the end of a poor season that ” he was done and he wasn’t going back” but next season he was back!

He was there to see the Rovers lose the League Cup Final in season 1948-1949 against Rangers and also there again in 1994 to witness the Rovers greatest triumph winning the Coca Cola Cup against Celtic.
He enjoyed the European nights in the nineties and latterly the Ramsden Cup win and in his final years seeing the Rovers move back into the SPFL Championship

Tam is survived by a daughter, two sons and seven grandchildren. His happiest days were spent with his sons and grandsons enjoying the highs and lows of supporting Raith Rovers.

His funeral takes at 2.15pm on September 9th 2021 at Kirkcaldy Crematorium – anyone who knew him is welcome to attend.
