Raith Rovers have today secured the signature of a striker on a season – long loan from Livingston FC.

Matej Poplatnik is a 28 year old Slovenian frontman who has represented his country at Under 20 and Under 21 levels while playing for NK Triglav Kranj in the Slovenian First League.

Matej has also played for Montana in the Bulgarian 2nd League, as well as Hungarian club Kaposvári Rákóczi on a season-long loan and Kerala Blasters in the Indian Super League.

The striker signed for SPFL Premiership Livingston FC in July 2020 and has represented The Lions 25 times, scoring 3 goals in Cup competitions including the winning goal versus The Rovers in extra time of the Scottish Cup Round 3 tie in April 2021.

Speaking exclusively to raithrovers.net, Rovers manager John McGlynn said “We’re looking forward to working with Matej this season – he’s a strong, clever player that we feel will fit well with the style of football we play. We’d like to place on record our Thanks to David Martindale and the Livi staff for their co-operation in securing this loan.”
