A unique piece of memorabilia is now up for auction as part of the Rovers’ Crowdfunding effort.
It’s a Bayern Munich jersey worn in a match played at Stark’s Park, by a man who earned many honours, including 6 Bundesliga titles and the Champions League, during a 12-year spell with the German giants:
The auction ends at 9pm on Thursday 30th April 2020.
Sammy Kuffour graced the turf of Stark’s Park on 21 January 1997 when Bayern Munich played the match which officially opened the new stands at the ground. Rovers went on to win the match 1-0, thanks to a Peter Duffield goal.
Afterwards Kuffour – who also won more than 50 caps for Ghana and played in the finals of the 2006 World Cup, presented his jersey to then Rovers’ Director, Jim Whyte, who then framed it and hung it proudly in his home.
Jim was heavily instrumental in establishing the Jim McMillan Club, located in the Main Stand, whose members over the years have raised and donated more than £150,000 to Raith Rovers.
He sadly passed away in 2018, after a long battle with illness. His family wish to support the current fundraising efforts and have decided to donate the framed jersey worn by Sammy Kuffour, to be presented to the highest bidder in an online auction.
