Joao Victoria

Wednesday June 12th 2019

The transfer activity has started again at Stark’s Park with the announcement that Joao Victoria (30) has signed for the club on a 1 year contract.

Joao played for Stranraer on loan from Airdrieonians in the latter part of season 2018-19, and has been signed principally as a left midfielder. He is a versatile player, however, who can also operate as a striker (as he has done against Raith Rovers in recent seasons).

A native of Portugal, Joao came to Scotland in 2013 and has played for Queen’s Park, East Kilbride, Arbroath and Albion Rovers before signing on for Airdrie at the start of last season.

Manager John McGlynn spoke highly of the new signing: “Joao is a player that has impressed in matches against Raith Rovers last season. He was a thorn in our side for Airdrie and Stranraer, cutting in from the left and scoring goals. We’re hoping he comes here and has the same impact for us. He started last season really well with Airdrie, and then played a major part in keeping Stranraer in League 1 in the second half of the season”

Welcome Aboard Joao!

RaithTV will be catching up with the new signings over the coming weeks when the players report for pre-season training at Stark’s Park

Rovers manager George Farm leaves his role after 3 years in charge to move to East End Park to take over from Willie Cunningham who had just taken the Pars to Scottish Cup glory. Farm was born in Slateford Edinburgh and briefly played for Hibs before moving to Blackpool.
