Daniel Armstrong

Thursday October 3rd 2019

Raith Rovers are delighted to announce the signing on a deal to the end of season 2019-20 of wide midfielder Daniel Armstrong.

Daniel, who was recently released by Premier League newcomers and Championship winners Ross County, had a successful 11 game stint at Stark’s Park last season where he made an excellent contribution to the Rovers with his attacking play.

He scored 5 goals including a stunning free kick up at Gayfield when the Rovers beat eventual League 1 Champions Arbroath 2-0 in December 2018.

21 year old Dan joined the Rovers in November 2018 as a free agent after being released by Wolverhampton Wanderers at the end of season 2017-18. He started his football career at Hamilton Accies, and joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on a 3 year deal in 2015.

Daniel also gained experience of the SPFL Championship when he signed for Dunfermline Athletic in January 2018 on loan.

Speaking exclusively to www.raithrovers.net about the signing, Rovers manager John McGlynn said “We are looking forward to working with Daniel again – if we get him playing like he did for us last season he will be a great asset to the squad.

His creative play, assists and goals will be vital for us this season and he brings flair, excitement and is the type of player that will get ‘bums on seats’.

Dan had interest and options from other clubs, but was keen to return and work with the squad and management to replicate the success he had with us last season”

Cammy Fraser who had retired from playing through injury at the end of the previous season signs for Rovers. The former Hearts and Dundee midfield player had been released by Rangers
