Raith Rovers are saddened to hear of the passing of their former trainer  John “Jock” Fraser.

Jock was born in Montrose on the 20th of September 1932.

George Farm was the Raith Rovers manager that brought Jock to Stark’s Park less than two weeks after taking up the post on the 26th of May 1964, arriving himself from Queen of The South. Jock had been coach of St Andrews United, he immediately took over the training of the players but also doubled up on match days as the ‘magic sponge man’, he attended to any on-field injuries.

He served Raith Rovers with distinction from 1964 until 1971. Anytime he returned to Kirkcaldy he would meet up with former Raith Rovers’ director Mario Caira.

He moved to Grimsby Town in September 1971 where he served as the physiotherapist for twenty years, he also had a spell during that time as caretaker manager in 1975.

He passed away on September 2nd aged 86.
