David McGurn

Tuesday June 4th 2019

Raith Rovers are extremely pleased to announce the return of a popular former player to the club. Goalkeeper David McGurn (39) joins as player-coach on a part-time basis, filling a key role in the coaching and playing setup at Stark’s Park.

2nd Division League winner 2008-09

David most recently spent 2 seasons at Cowdenbeath after spending a year on loan at Stranraer after leaving the Rovers in 2016

A huge crowd favourite during his first stint at the club, “The Witch” hardly requires an introduction to the Rovers faithful after playing 241 matches (2 of them as sub) for the club between 2008 and 2016 during which time he made some of the finest saves ever seen by a Rovers goalie since the days of the legendary Murray McDermott.

David was, of course, a key part of John McGlynn’s team that won the SFL Second Division in 2008-09 and also benefited from a well-deserved testimonial match last season in recognition of his 8 years service to the club.

He will play a full part in the coaching of the goalkeepers alongside manager John McGlynn and assistant manager Paul Smith.

Welcome back David!

Inside Forward Alexander McCulloch signs from Coventry City but only manages 8 first team appearances in two seasons.
