Rovers gaffer Barry Smith has secured the services of another player from last years squad.

Defender Kyle Benedictus (26) has signed on for next season after playing 21 matches last season. He faced a long journey back to full fitness after a fractured fibula that caused him to miss the middle 5 months of the 2017-18 campaign.

Having signed for the Rovers at the start of the 2015-16 season, the upcoming campaign will be Bene’s 4th at Stark’s Park where he has already made 109 starts and 1 sub appearance scoring 6 goals so far.

Kyle started his career at Dundee FC in season 2008-09, and has also played for Montrose and Alloa (where he was managed by current Rovers boss Barry Smith); making 133 appearances and scoring 4 goals before being brought to Kirkcaldy by Ray McKinnon.

Speaking to www.raithrovers.net, Kyle said “as soon as last season ended I was keen to extend my stay at Raith Rovers and get the club promoted back to the Championship”

Rovers manager Barry Smith said “I’m happy to have secured the services of Kyle – his experience in defence will be a key asset as we look to get promoted from League 1 in the new season”
