Signings

Raith Rovers are pleased to announce the signing of 2 players, with another player set to sign:

Defender Jamie Watson (18) signed a two year professional contract last night. Coach Craig Easton said “Jamie played 7 times for the first team last season and he showed what he can be capable of when stepping up to play at a higher level. He’s a Kirkcaldy boy, a Raith Rovers supporter, and has been connected to the club and it’s youth set up since he was 9 years old. He also had a spell at Hutchison Vale Boys Club before signing as a Raith Rovers apprentice two years ago. It’s great to see someone playing for the club they supported as a boy and hopefully Jamie will earn the right to wear the dark blue many more times over the next couple of seasons”.

Midfielder Ryan Stevenson (19) signed a one year professional contract last night. Craig Easton remarked “Ryan had a heart problem at the start of last season which required treatment and meant he had to bide his time until he could get back to full training. It was a physical and mental challenge, and he dealt with the situation in an impressive fashion. He came into a bit of form towards the end of the Development League East season and when he went out on loan to Bo’Ness United for the last few months, he really embraced the opportunity and produced some stand out performances for the Junior Super League East side”.

Midfielder James Berry (18) is expected to sign a one year deal when he comes back from holiday.

Commenting on the signings and plans for the new season Craig Easton told www.raithrovers.net “The lads have been rewarded for two years of hard work as apprentices, and will have a bit of well deserved time off before reporting back for pre season and the hard work will really begin. The goal for them is to be playing and training well enough to challenge for a place in the manager’s starting eleven.

Unfortunately, it’s with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Kyle Bell. Kyle has been an absolute pleasure to work with and get to know these past two seasons and he’s played a major part in the success of the squad. His enthusiasm and natural talent made it a tough decision not to offer him a contract, however we wish him well for his next challenge and will help him with whatever that may be”.
