Craig Easton and Scott Robertson on the touchline last season

There was more good news for the Raith Rovers Development Squad last night:

At the Kirkcaldy & Central Fife Sports Council Awards Ceremony at Fife College, Raith Rovers Development Squad Head Coach Craig Easton was presented with the prestigious Fife Free Press Group Sports Personality of the Year Award, 2017.

Speaking exclusively to www.raithrovers.net, Craig said “It was a great night and an honour to have been in the company of so many talented athletes, young people, dedicated coaches and volunteers.

Thanks to everyone that voted, and the award is dedicated to the boys and everyone that’s had a part to play in backing the Development Squad over the past 18 months – we couldn’t do it without you.”

This is the 10th year the contest has been run, and is the largest celebration of sport in the Kingdom of Fife.

Craig’s under 20 squad secured the Development League East title last season, with the squad also currently topping this season’s table. The squad need 4 points from the remaining 4 league fixtures to retain this seasons league title.

In a high quality field of candidates, Craig came out top in the online poll against Thornton football ref Lorraine Watson, Kirkcaldy racing driver Jonny Adam and Buckhaven cricketer Safyaan Sharif.

Well Done Easty!
