Jason Thomson Signs

Thursday May 24th 2012

Jason Thomson from Hearts has signed a Pre Contract with Raith Rovers and will join the Club when the transfer window opens in June.

Jason was on loan from Hearts from March to May and was a first team regular during that period.

John McGlynn said,  “I am delighted to sign Jason as he made a big impact in the games he played in towards the end of last season. We previously worked together at Hearts and he will be a good asset for the team next season.”

Jason says, “I am pleased to join Raith Rovers and looking forward to continuing the same form that we ended last season with.”

Following promotion the previous season Rovers took on Celtic at Parkhead drawing the match 2-2 in front of a crowd of 32000. Rovers fielded two ex-Celts in Joe McLaughlin and Andy Young. Rovers twice came from behind in the game with Willie Penman netting on each occasion. The game is most notable for an injury to Willie Penman. Rovers trainer Willie Hunter raced onto the park to administer smelling salts but the semi-conscious Penman took a deep drink of the salts. Penman was taken away to the dressing room where he was violently sick but insisted on returning to the action!
