Under 12s can go free to Saturday’s match at Stark’s Park versus Ayr United.

This is an initiative that the SPFL Championship clubs have been working on together but League 1 and League 2 have been given the option to follow suit.

Children under the age of 12 will be permitted free admission to the 2 games played at Starks Park in Ladbrokes League 1 on January 6 and January 13 if they are accompanied by a paying adult.

The move is aimed at encouraging families to get along to a match, even if their favourite top-tier side is not in action.

Supporters wishing to make use of this offer should buy their adult and child tickets from the Main Office ticket window, where complimentary admission will be given to 1 under 12 year old attending with 1 full paying adult.

SPFL Chief Executive Neil Doncaster said: “Football goes on even during the Ladbrokes Premiership winter break and I commend the clubs for coming up with this welcome initiative.

“Hopefully many supporters will take the chance to get out to a match next month, with free admission for under-12s making it more affordable for families to attend together.”

Rovers Chairman Alan Young added: “There are no Premiership fixtures in early January, so the spotlight will fall on the lower leagues for a few weeks.

We hope that this offer will encourage families to take in an exciting game, whether they are lapsed, occasional or new supporters of the Rovers”
