Raith Trust Burns Supper
The Raith Trust hosted their 5th annual Burns Night in the Raith Suite at Starks Park last Saturday.
A full house in the Raith Suite, including John McGlynn, Paul Smith, Kyle Benedictus and Iain Davidson were joined by members of the Raith Rovers board, Raith Trust, Raith TV, 200 Club, Rovers Down South and many others.
Rovers chairman, Bill Clark, got events underway with a reading of the Selkirk Grace, followed by Colin Flinn’s excellent Address to the Haggis. Guests were then treated to a traditional Scottish fayre of Haggis, Neeps & Tatties and Cranachan for dessert. Margie Robertson then delivered ‘Tae A Victory’, paying tribute to the Rovers fine Scottish Cup win against Dunfermline. Davie Hancock then posed the questions to John, Paul, Bene & Davo for a Q&A about all things football and otherwise. Further readings were made from Bill Gilby (The Wee Malkies), Colin Flinn (Address to the Hot Pie) and Ali More (To a Scotch Pie). The night was rounded up by host, Steve Wallace from the Raith Trust with the raffle and auction.
Another great amount was raised – so huge thanks to all who came along and contributed to the event. This takes the amount raised by the Raith Trust Burns Nights over the last 5 years to £7,000 – a terrific achievement.
