We are delighted to confirm the signings this afternoon of former Czech Republic international and Hearts legend, Rudi Skacel and Fleetwood Town striker Declan McManus.

Seven times capped Rudi (37) needs no introduction to Scottish football fans following his exploits most notably in two spells with Hearts where he scored 41 goals in 93 matches.

Equally the goalscoring exploits of 21 year old Declan with Morton, where he netted 28 times in 54 games, are an indication of what we hope he will bring to Raith Rovers. He joins us on loan from Fleetwood.

Both signings are still subject to FIFA International Clearance.

Both players were introduced to the press at Stark’s Park this afternoon, then had a brief chat with RaithTV.

Raith Rovers FC wishes to profoundly thank both Colin Smart of Kingdom Homes and Stuart Couser of Fife Letting Service for their incredibly generous support to the club, without which neither transaction could have been completed.

On behalf of the club, Chairman Alan Young commented, “It’s really tremendous that we have been able to bring in players of the quality of Declan and Rudi, and we couldn’t have done so without Stuart and Colin’s financial support to the player budget.”

CEO Eric Drysdale added, “It’s great to see the business community supporting the club in this way and the club hopes that our supporters will also back the team in increasing numbers in the season ahead. Gary and Darren have managed to attract some terrific signings so there’s going to be some great entertainment on the hallowed Stark’s Park turf, I’m sure. Season tickets are still on sale during office hours, so if you want to BE PART OF IT, get down soon and book your place for the season!!”

Following the goal-less draw three days earlier Rovers lose 0-2 to Falkirk in the Scottish Cup semi-final replay at Tynecastle. A Jimmy Wardhaugh free kick in the first minute set the tone of the replay but it took until his second goal in the 73rd minute to seal the victory.
