Roaring Success

The club held their first ever Roary Club Family Day on Saturday and it was judged a major success by the young people and parents who came along.

The McDermid Stand was turned into a dedicated family zone for the day and around 200 people turned up to enjoy the pre-match activities which included shooting skills, face painting, dressing up in strips from the past, an art station and the chance to try and splat the rat.  All the activities were a hit and the young fans also received Rovers’ wristbands, Match Attax cards and even free chocolate bars during the match!

Special guests on the day included Kingdom FM, Frankie and Bennys and Fife Leisure who all brought along their mascots for a special mascot race before kick-off. Host for the day, Roary Rover was up for the challenge as he put in an impressive performance to beat his rivals and race home in first place, proving that he remains top dog (or lion) amongst Fife’s mascots.

Rover’s Chief Executive Eric Drysdale was delighted with the response to the family day. “We were really pleased with how the day went. There was a great atmosphere in the McDermid Stand and it was wonderful to see so many younger fans enjoying the activities on offer. I was particularly encouraged by the number of families who were bringing their children along to their first game of the season. The club recognises that young people are the fans of the future and that is why we wanted to have a special day for Roary Club members and their families. It is definitely something we will repeat in the future.”
